Maria, Petra & Nico, garden of 36 Newton Road, W2 - c1959

Close up of the three of us - Mum & Petra look happy. The roses are in bloom, say summer 1959, I was 16 and my sister Petra still 14 (NO - see below). I think she looks more like our dad Ian, while I take after my mother Maria.
I wonder who took this & why both women look so happy, someone told a joke maybe, not me - I was probably thinking of dismantling radios, waiting for the photo to end.

"The threesome family photos were taken in late spring/early summer, say May (cf the women's cardies, the delphiniums to the left not yet in bloom, and the hollyhocks to the right - not a rose - only just starting their blooming), and we were at least a year or possibly even two years younger than you have estimated. Photographer I haven't a clue, but Harris Jackson was a fairly regular visitor and always made the effort to supply decent shots of all of us. So if you think a credit is of interest to anyone, i would plump for him. "
