Here you can see both the big 4U server (getting old) and the high-reliability tower backup server. 24/07/2003.
That backup server was dual PSU, dual RAID drives & had a 6 tape HP tape-changer.
Backups went first as rsync cron jobs from the individual servers to the backup machine - then the entire backup machine was backed up to tape each night.
We never lost a byte of data, smirk smirk, but it was hard work making sure it all kept working reliably.
